acslaw finally quits anti piracy business

After months of abuse in the media and in court, Andrew Crossley has announced he is quitting the anti piracy business for good. Whether he sticks to his word remains to be seen, but those who have had their lives blighted by ACS:Law are hoping that he does indeed stick to his word.

The announcement from ACS:Law came after another court appearance from Andrew Crossley in relation to the 26 cases still in the system at the Patents County Court in the UK. Following his previous appearance at court when he was subjected to a great deal of scathing criticism, Andrew Crossley only managed to stick around for the morning before he departed the court early after citing family reasons.

This time around, the judge was no less critical of the way ACS:Law and its partner, MediaCAT, had handled the alleged cases of file sharing. The duo were hoping to have all 26 remaining cases discontinued, but the judge was none too happy about this turn of events. The judge also raised the problematic issue of MediaCAT not being the rightsholder for the works named in the file sharing cases.

A judgement is expected later on this week.
